About Us

The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust was first established in the 1950s and has since continued the good work of the Lord Mayor, whose mission is to ensure the Brisbane of tomorrow is better than the Brisbane of today.

For more than 70 years, the Trust has been supporting residents across Brisbane and improving the wellbeing of the most marginalised and vulnerable members of the community. The Trust supports charitable organisations under a Trust deed and is guided by a Board of Directors, including the Lady Mayoress, Chair of the Trust.

We believe that the grassroots level is where we can swiftly make the most impact on our community’s challenges, whether it be people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, food scarcity, illness or disability. This is why the Trust is proud to support lesser-known charities who are delivering projects directly to the frontline.

Vision

To support grassroots activities by distributing funds, raising the profile of and making meaningful connections for a wide range of lower profile and largely underfunded organisations that make a significant difference to the lives of Brisbane’s most disadvantaged residents.

Continue to expand and adapt the Trust’s proficiency to raise funds through traditional fundraising sources and look for new opportunities and alternate revenue sources.

GIVING:

Maintain a dependable process for distributing funds throughout Brisbane.

PROMOTING:

Promote the Trust’s objectives and the Trust’s activities, while raising awareness through profile raising initiatives.

ADVOCACY:

Advocate the needs of Brisbane’s charities and vulnerable communities to potential investors, sponsors, and supporters.

CONNECTING:

Continuing to form relationships and networks by connecting businesses and community organisations that align with the Trust’s goals.

GOVERNING:

Continuous improvement of the Trust’s governance.
